Tapestry Dance Company and Academy has many
wonderful events coming up in the
first half of 2007. We hope you will take some time to
enjoy the art of dance by participating in one or more
of these events.
We are excited about our encore
performance of The Souls of Our Feet at UT’s
McCullough Theater March 9th-11th. If you missed the
performance at The Helm Fine Arts Theater in the fall,
now is your chance to enjoy a fabulous tap experience
on stage. Even if you did see it this fall, grab some
friends, bring them to the performance at McCullough
and share the excitement of tap dance. Information on
ticket purchasing, performance times and parking is
listed below.
Our exciting move to 2302 Western Trails behind
Central Market South is just around the corner! We
must be out of our Pressler address by March 15th.
Our goal is to open the week after Spring Break
(starting on March 19th). Please alert your friends to
stay tuned to the website and our e-mail blasts for fine-
tuning of this date as we get closer to it. In the
meantime, check out photos of the 'construction
phase' of the remodel included below.
To celebrate our new move and in honor of our
fabulous dance teachers, Tapestry will be hosting a
day of Master Classes (multi-forms) on Sunday, April
15th. Stay tuned for more details as the schedule is
finalized.
The schedule is out for the Seventh Annual Soul To
Sole Festival. This year, the majority of events will be
held in our new studio at Western Trails.
Performances will again be held at the Helm Fine Arts
Theater at St. Stephen's campus. See below for more
details.

Tapestry Dance Company announces an ENCORE
performance of The Souls of Our Feet at the
University of Texas at Austin’s PAC/McCullough
Theatre this Spring! This fast paced collection of
footwork restages the best of rhythm tap
masterpieces from Fred Astaire & Eleanor Powell to
The Nicholas Brothers as well as contemporary works
of living masters. Led by the live jazz music of the
Eddy Hobizal Jazz Trio, this one-of-a-kind concert
brings swingin’ jazz and 18 feet keeping time to the
pulse of this wonderful and indigenous American
artform; a celebration of rhythm at its best! Tickets

DANCERS LIVE UP TO CHALLENGE
OF 'SOULS'

For Tapestry Dance Company, history has as much
to do with the present as the past. To honor tap's
rich history, Tapestry performed "The Souls of Our
Feet" on Friday at St. Stephen's Episcopal School;
the show was a collection of demanding, well-danced
numbers by tap masters such as the Nicholas
Brothers, Charles "Honi" Coles and Cholly
Atkins.
The homage took three forms: the return of 20-plus
dances to the stage, appearances by tap matriarchs
Sarah Petronio and Dianne Walker and, most fleeting
but awfully fulfilling, moments where dancers seemed
overwhelmed by the talent of their predecessors...

Tapestry's New Home Looking Good...
Work Continues on 2302 Western Trails for a Slated March Move-In!
Tapestry Dance Company is excited about our
upcoming move to 2302 Western Trails. Our new
location will have five spacious, hardwood studios; a
quiet lobby area for waiting guests; snacks & vending;
archival library & viewing area and much more!
We

For those of you who have previously attended, you
know how many people it takes to make the festival
run smoothly for everyone. We will need door
monitors, runners, drivers, artist escorts – it truly will
take a village to continue our tradition of fabulous
festivals!
If you are planning to take Soul 2 Sole classes and
can volunteer, we encourage you to take the time now
to plan your festival class schedule and register. In
the next few weeks you will be able to sign up online
for specific volunteer times.

Holiday Breaks, Visions in Rhythm, End of Year Demo Schedule
Tapestry Dance Academy will be closed March 12-17
for Spring Break and April 6 and 7 for Easter.
VISIONS IN RHYTHM (VIR)
Tapestry's Pre-Apprentice Program
VIR announces their 2007 performance on Saturday,
April 28th at the Helm Fine Arts Theater, St. Stephen's
Campus. The annual VIR silent auction/reception will
be held that evening immediately before the
