Dear Friends of Tapestry,

As we begin this holiday season, we would like to give thanks to all the individuals who hold our artistic fabric together and enable us to bring the best of dance training and performance to our beautiful city! Hopefully you experienced this first hand at our fall concert The Souls of Our Feet, a celebration of American tap dance that “made the sincerest connection between Tapestry's today and all those tapping yesterdays . . . the torrent of toes astounds!” according to Clare Croft of The Austin American-Statesman (see review below).

If not, you’ll have another chance with an encore performance of this exciting concert at UT’s McCullough Theatre March 9th-11th (more info below).

Also on the horizon is our exciting move to 2302 Western Trails behind Central Market South! This 12,000 square foot facility will include five large studios, will provide plenty of waiting areas and is within walking distance from restaurants, shopping and more! Scheduling and details coming in January.

We have finally found a building to create a new home, and now is the time for us to ask for your wonderful support. Each and every dollar you give helps us not only continue our mission to share the power of dance through education and performance - but will literally help us open the doors to our new facility. Your donation can be made by check to Tapestry Dance Company 507-B Pressler St., Austin, TX 78703; by requesting a credit card donation form; or by calling us at 512-474-9846. Please join us in building Tapestry’s new home with your generous contribution.

Happy Holidays to you and yours,

Judy Witkin
President, Tapestry Board of Directors
on behalf of Acia Gray, Executive/Artistic Director and Deirdre Strand, Co-Founder

Sharing the Power of Dance and Passing on Tradition:
Tapestry Premieres The Souls of Our Feet
Souls of Our Feet - Sarah, Acia, Lady Di DANCERS LIVE UP TO CHALLENGE OF 'SOULS'

by Clare Croft, Austin American Statesman

For Tapestry Dance Company, history has as much to do with the present as the past. To honor tap's rich history, Tapestry performed "The Souls of Our Feet" on Friday at St. Stephen's Episcopal School; the show was a collection of demanding, well-danced numbers by tap masters such as the Nicholas Brothers, Charles "Honi" Coles and Cholly Atkins.

The homage took three forms: the return of 20-plus dances to the stage, appearances by tap matriarchs Sarah Petronio and Dianne Walker and, most fleeting but awfully fulfilling, moments where dancers seemed overwhelmed by the talent of their predecessors... Read more
