Ellen's dance training is in the José Limon tradition, Alexander Release Technique, Improvisation, and Jazz.

Ellen Bartel Has been creating dance in Austin for 12 years. Ellen directs / produces Dance Carousel, Hot September Flurries, and  Spank Dance Company. She is the co-founded Austin Independent Choreographers and has danced with Ariel Dance Theatre (94-01),Wicked Cricket Dance Theatre, and Stillpoint to name a few.

She had taught dance to teens and adults, beginner through advanced, in New York and Texas since the late 1980's. As a choreographer Ellen has received, awards, scholarships, prestigious nominations, and critical acclaim.
