Tasha Lawson

Ms. Lawson is a multi-form dance artist, choreographer and educator. Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Ms. Lawson specializes in rhythm tap and contemporary dance.

Ms. Lawson has been a guest artist at international festivals such as 'Le Festival De Danse Encore' (Montreal), 'Festival D'estiu' (Reus, Spain) with Tapestry, 'The Soul to Sole Tap Festival' (Austin), 'Third Coast Rhythm Project' (San Antonio), 'Dancing on the Edge' (Vancouver) and most recently, at the 'Vancouver International Tap Festival'. As a choreographer her work has been seen on concert stages and television for Bravo!, CBC, and MTV.

In addition, Ms. Lawson has created rhythm tap, contemporary, and jazz works for numerous youth companies in both Canada and the U.S. and served from 2001-2008 as the Artistic Director of Tapestry's Pre-Apprentice training company, "Visions In Rhythm", who presented work at the 2003 & 2004 Chicago Human Rhythm Project's Youth Tap Conference. Ms. Lawson holds diplomas in Dance Teacher Training and Dance Performance from Grant MacEwan College (Edmonton), and continued her training at Main Dance Place (Vancouver), Simon Fraser University and in New York, where she mentored with artists such as Roxane Butterfly, Jeannie Hill, Dianne Walker, and Heather Cornell.
